بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
الْقَارِعَةُ Verse 1
The Calamity!

مَا الْقَارِعَةُ Verse 2
What is the Calamity?
Verse 2, Where in the source
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ Verse 3
Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Calamity is!
Verse 3, Where in the source
يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ الْمَبْثُوثِ Verse 4
A day wherein mankind will be as thickly-scattered moths
Verse 4, Where in the source
وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنفُوشِ Verse 5
And the mountains will become as carded wool.
Verse 5, Where in the source
فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ Verse 6
Then, as for him whose scales are heavy (with good works),
Verse 6, Where in the source
فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ Verse 7
He will live a pleasant life.

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ Verse 8
But as for him whose scales are light,

فَأُمُّهُ هَاوِيَةٌ Verse 9
A bereft and Hungry One will be his mother,

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا هِيَهْ Verse 10
Ah, what will convey unto thee what she is! -

نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ Verse 11
Raging Fire.
