Surah 89 الفجر
30 Verses
Meccan
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلْفَجْرِ Verse 1
By the Dawn
Verse 1, Where in the source
وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ Verse 2
And ten nights,
Verse 2, Where in the source
وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ Verse 3
And the Even and the Odd,
Verse 3, Where in the source
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ Verse 4
And the night when it departeth,
Verse 4, Where in the source
هَلْ فِى ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِى حِجْرٍ Verse 5
There surely is an oath for thinking man.
Verse 5, Where in the source
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ Verse 6
Dost thou not consider how thy Lord dealt with (the tribe of) A'ad,
Verse 6, Where in the source
إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلْعِمَادِ Verse 7
With many-columned Iram,
Verse 7, Where in the source
ٱلَّتِى لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ Verse 8
The like of which was not created in the lands;
Verse 8, Where in the source
وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُوا۟ ٱلصَّخْرَ بِٱلْوَادِ Verse 9
And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley;
Verse 9, Where in the source
وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى ٱلْأَوْتَادِ Verse 10
And with Pharaoh, firm of might,
Verse 10, Where in the source
ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ Verse 11
Who (all) were rebellious (to Allah) in these lands,
Verse 11, Where in the source
فَأَكْثَرُوا۟ فِيهَا ٱلْفَسَادَ Verse 12
And multiplied iniquity therein?
Verse 12, Where in the source
فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ Verse 13
Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment.
Verse 13, Where in the source
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ Verse 14
Lo! thy Lord is ever watchful.
Verse 14, Where in the source
فَأَمَّا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكْرَمَنِ Verse 15
As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him, and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me.
Verse 15, Where in the source
وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَـٰنَنِ Verse 16
But whenever He trieth him by straitening his means of life, he saith: My Lord despiseth me.
Verse 16, Where in the source
كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ ٱلْيَتِيمَ Verse 17
Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan
Verse 17, Where in the source
وَلَا تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ Verse 18
And urge not on the feeding of the poor.
Verse 18, Where in the source
وَتَأْكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا Verse 19
And ye devour heritages with devouring greed.
Verse 19, Where in the source
وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا Verse 20
And love wealth with abounding love.
Verse 20, Where in the source
كَلَّآ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا Verse 21
Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms, grinding, grinding,
Verse 21, Where in the source
وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا Verse 22
And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank,
Verse 22, Where in the source
وَجِا۟ىٓءَ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ Verse 23
And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him)?
Verse 23, Where in the source
يَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِى Verse 24
He will say: Ah, would that I had sent before me (some provision) for my life!
Verse 24, Where in the source
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ Verse 25
None punisheth as He will punish on that day!
Verse 25, Where in the source
وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ Verse 26
None bindeth as He then will bind.
Verse 26, Where in the source
يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفْسُ ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ Verse 27
But ah! thou soul at peace!
Verse 27, Where in the source
ٱرْجِعِىٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً Verse 28
Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure!
Verse 28, Where in the source
فَٱدْخُلِى فِى عِبَـٰدِى Verse 29
Enter thou among My bondmen!
Verse 29, Where in the source
وَٱدْخُلِى جَنَّتِى Verse 30
Enter thou My Garden!
Verse 30, Where in the source
