Surah 88 الغاشية
26 Verses
Meccan
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ Verse 1
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming?
Verse 1, Where in the source
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ Verse 2
On that day (many) faces will be downcast,
Verse 2, Where in the source
عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ Verse 3
Toiling, weary,
Verse 3, Where in the source
تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً Verse 4
Scorched by burning fire,
Verse 4, Where in the source
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ Verse 5
Drinking from a boiling spring,
Verse 5, Where in the source
لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ Verse 6
No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit
Verse 6, Where in the source
لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ Verse 7
Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger.
Verse 7, Where in the source
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ Verse 8
In that day other faces will be calm,

لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ Verse 9
Glad for their effort past,

فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ Verse 10
In a high Garden
Verse 10, Where in the source
لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَـٰغِيَةً Verse 11
Where they hear no idle speech,
Verse 11, Where in the source
فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ Verse 12
Wherein is a gushing spring,
Verse 12, Where in the source
فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ Verse 13
Wherein are couches raised
Verse 13, Where in the source
وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ Verse 14
And goblets set at hand
Verse 14, Where in the source
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ Verse 15
And cushions ranged
Verse 15, Where in the source
وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ Verse 16
And silken carpets spread.
Verse 16, Where in the source
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ Verse 17
Will they not regard the camels, how they are created?
Verse 17, Where in the source
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ Verse 18
And the heaven, how it is raised?
Verse 18, Where in the source
وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ Verse 19
And the hills, how they are set up?
Verse 19, Where in the source
وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ Verse 20
And the earth, how it is spread?
Verse 20, Where in the source
فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ Verse 21
Remind them, for thou art but an admonisher,
Verse 21, Where in the source
لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ Verse 22
Thou art not at all a warder over them.
Verse 22, Where in the source
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ Verse 23
But whoso is averse and disbelieveth,
Verse 23, Where in the source
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ Verse 24
Allah will punish him with direst punishment.
Verse 24, Where in the source
إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ Verse 25
Lo! unto Us is their return
Verse 25, Where in the source
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم Verse 26
And Ours their reckoning.
